Audrey's singing

I LOVED her singing - her speaking voice is lovely so naturally I thought her singing was breathtaking. I'm surprised that they dubbed her for My Fair Lady, which I think is such a shame, and I'm surprised that they fought to keep Moonriver out of Breakfast at Tiffany's - can you imagine?! I'm glad they kept it in, b/c that to me is the most memorable scene besides the ending. I wish I could find more songs with her voice....

She was a cute singer! I loved her singing 'How To Be Lovely' in this movie, and Moon River of course. She was very multi-talented /sigh.

I loved her singing too, but I was really surprised at her dancing. She is athletic! And of course she was never more gorgeous than she was here. But Fred Astaire... His dancing was great and singing very good, but as a leading man for her...I just don't know.

Everything about Hepburn in this movie was absolutely enchanting...including her singing.

It was breathtaking! She didn't have a very strong singing voice, but it was really lovely; full of youthful exuberance and sincerity. Just remebering her singing during 'Bonjour Paris' puts a lump in my throat!

Nobody can be exactly me. Sometimes even I have trouble doing it.

Her voice was sweet and natural. She might not have had a tremendous range or an out-of-this-world belt, but her voice was easy to listen to, almost mercurial in a sense.

I agree; I absolutely LOVE her voice. Of course, it's not the strongest one in the world but what does come out is a wonderful sound: so tender, soft, and charismatic...Everything Audrey did was elegant, and this also reflects in her singing. SHE'S JUST AWESOME!

Her voice was fine for this and Moon River. They were written within a narrow, alto range. My Fair Lady was almost like an opera, requiring a wide-ranging, strong, soprano voice. She was also being unfairly compared against Julie Andrews and couldn't win.

Agree: loved her singing, dancing too. I always thought it turned out better when the studios let the star do his/her own singing rather than have it dubbed. The main reason for this is the emotional/psychological insights into the character it brings.
Another example I can think of was Ava Gardner in Showboat. The clips of her I've seen in which she sings Can't Help Lovin' That Man are much better than the dubbed version (don't remember who was singing the song for her). Also as I recall they allowed her to sing one song in 'Pandora & the Flying Dutchman' and she sounded great.

I didn't particularly cared for the way that she talked her way through 'How Long Has This Been Going On?' I was more impressed with her dancing.
