movies about fashion

Major women stars were always dressed beautifully, especially in the Thirties and Fifties, but 'Funny Face' must be the 'Citizen Kane' of movies that are specifically about fashion and the fashion industry. Right offhand I can't think of any others, but there must have been some.

I can't think of any 30-50s movies about fashion either - although 'the women' (1939) has a great fashion show scene in it that is the only scene in the movie with technicolor --some of my favourite fashion moments were from movies in this era 1) Audrey in Givenchy dress at the ball in Sabrina 2) Audrey in the opening scene of Breakfast at Tiffany's 3) Grace's first outfit in Rear Window 4) Elizabeth Taylor in the White dress at the party in A place in the sun 5) Vivien in Gone with the wind especially the red dress and the green dress made from curtains

"Roberta" for one.

Cover Girl (1944) with Rita Hayworth and Gene Kelly has many similarities to Funny Face.

Both are musical-romantic-comedies about Women who get the chance to be model for magazines.

Cover Girl is great by the way, I preferred it over Singin' in the Rain (1952), Gene Kellys most popular film.
