Was age not a factor in the Golden Age of Hollywood?

I haven't seen many of Audrey's films but the ones I have seen are 'My Fair Lady' where her love interest was Sir Lawrence Oliver who could have been her father.
In 'Sabrina' Humphrey Bogart was her love interest again much older than her, same with 'Charade' where Cary Grant plays her love interest again older. I love watching old movies and this seems an ongoing trend not just for Audrey movies but really many of the movies. I guess that's why I love 'Roman Holiday' because Audrey and Gregory Peck looked perfect together (even though he was 13 years older than her) he still had the appearance of a young man in his 30s I just wish it was in color just to see Italy and her beautiful wardrobe.

Only in very recent times has American culture pushed the opinion that there's something wrong with an older man and younger woman. It was always considered ideal if the man was 10-15 years his wife's senior. Even a 20 year age difference wasn't considered abnormal. Of course we're now living in the age of "social correctness" aka: PC.

"Who's running this airline?!"

No big deal but it was Rex Harrison in My Fair Lady.
Albert Finney played her husband in "Two for The Road" and he's seven years younger than Audrey. Then again, it wasn't an ingenue role for Audrey.

Damn, I missed the Lawrence Oliver version of "My Fair Lady".

To be fair Bogart and Grant both married much younger women.
