Another bad 'classic'

According to Robert Osborne on TCM, it's a classic. Jean Luc Goddard loved it. (And he's French!) So clearly I'm wrong in thinking a) this movie stinks b) that "Woman With a Whip" song is un-intentionally hilarious c) even the good actors (Stanwyk and Jagger) can't save it d) Barry Sullivan was carved out of wood.

Yes, you're wrong. :)

I happen to love it, but I can see where it would be polarizing. It doesn't seem like a movie that one can "kinda" like...it's either a movie that you think is great or you think is terrible.

Sweet merciful crap!

It's just tea! *sips* Needs more gin.

You are definitely wrong if you think this movie "stinks". Far from it!

You've done some bad things, sweetie.

I'm with the OP regarding his opinion. Forty Guns was a rushed storyline with somewhat bad editing. My only interest in Forty Guns beforehand was Barbara Stanwyck and she wasn't enough to peak my interest here.

"I'd rather be hated for who I am, than loved for who I am not".

I think the OP has missed the point, as clearly indicated by the fact that he thinks "Woman With a Whip" was unintentionally funny. This film is seriously camp. Heterosexual camp, but camp nonetheless. Looks like some people are too young (or at least too naive) to understand it....

I used to want to change the world. Now I just want to leave the room with a little dignity.

Yeah, nothing in this movie was "unintentional." Filmmakers back then were a lot more clever than people seem to think now.

It's a truly good movie. Too bad for some people that they can't enjoy it.
