sex jokes

i can't believe they got away with some of the not too subtle sex jokes involving gun in this old film. haha

reply

i thought i was the only one who noticed.watch out or it might go off in your hair.

reply

Actually the line is it might go off in your face which is even racier! (And Stanwyck's coo right before asking to handle the gun "Can I feel it?" is a pretty strong double entendre in itself.)

Watch for a scene between Montgomery Clift and John Ireland in "Red River", directed by Howard Hawks and also starring John Wayne. In fact, here it is:

I just saw a screening of a 35mm print of "Forty Guns". Let me tell ya... the sex jokes did not go unmissed to that packed house. People were rolling in the aisles.

You know how it is... rockin'... rollin'... and what not.

reply

It was odd. I never heard of the film. Some pretty strange scences to say the least.

Kisskiss, Bangbang

The Hollyweird "people" were determined to push filth on America's children.
Eisenhower and others kept them in check..but "the film folks won out after
Jack Valenti passed away.
Well take a gander at the feckless,American sheeple now.
Were I a young Caucasian today,I would go to Australia.Even there nudity, homos and filth
are everywhere.

reply

Well, bear.....this film was made in 1957 when Ike was in office. And Valenti was president of the MPAA until 2004. So I reckon this nasty little film (and a few zillion others) just slipped right by the gate-keepers. Yep, the American sheeple deserve it....God-less, communist, perverts that they are. With Australia corrupted too, where is a 19th century Caucasian gonna go? It's a real shame. Even dinosaurs are extinct now. But, thanks for making my day!

I noticed the gun jokes. But they were delivered in a way that perhaps weren't obvious to a lot of the audience. There was some good repartee between Barry Sullivan and Barbara Stanwyck. Including a bit on spanking which came across a bit more obvious than the gun jokes. Also I got a bit suspicious when Chico said "I feel like a third leg."

reply

Stanwyck had the best chemistry with Fred MacMurray and Barry Sullivan.
