Average rating of 7.2 ????

Just watched this western for the very first time. In my opinion it's a very average movie and I could not believe the high rating it gets. I give it no more than a five, some of the dialogue and characterisations are unbelievable and there are so many deliberately contrived scenes. In addition I only counted 39 guns.

I just viewed it and agree wholeheartedly. There's no way this is a 7.2 film. Just because it strays from the mold of traditional Westerns and is the precursor to spaghetti Westerns of the next decade doesn't make it a good movie. I agree with your rating -- 5/10 Stars is generous.

You're all nuts. This is anything but average. It's a superior western, deeply bold and original (not just talking about the story), that's probably why it rubs you the wrong way. The final line about forgiveness could apply to what it takes to like this film.

I liked it enough to give it a 7/10

It deserves a higher rating. The writing, acting, directing, attention to detail, and cinematography are exceptionally good.
