A few random observations

This was a pretty good movie. I had expected it to be a melodramatic love triangle sort of movie, but, it turned out to be more of a dramatic sea story than I had at first reckoned. The Trinidad and Tobago filming locations helped quite a bit, and Rita Hayworth looked delicious, too.

Couldn't help but notice that this was produced by Albert R. Broccoli, who went on to James Bond/007 fame just a few years later. Here in this movie, we have Bernard Lee playing the doctor. He later of course went on to portray "M" in many Bond films.

Also couldn't help but notice that Lemmon and Mitchum came across as a sort of "odd couple" in this film. Mitchum's character was named "Felix" - Lemmon would later play a guy named Felix Ungar in the movie version of Neil Simon's play "The Odd Couple" about ten years later.

Bonar Colleano, the guy playing the young American Navy Lieutenant, had an interesting and ultimately tragic life. He died in a road accident about a year after this film, still in his prime. Check out his bio here on IMDb: http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0171713/bio
