Jane Powell, va va va voooom!!!

I greased up to this one.

I did too, but not because of Jane, because of George! He was my idol of the 1950s. Was there anyone during that period hotter than George? And the studio knew it, and kept him shirtless and in tight jeans or short shorts whenever possible. He was a good solid leading man, much maligned because of his first starring role, ROBOT MONSTER, often considered one of the worst films ever made. But George was masculine and handsome, and turned in some very solid work (FOUR GIRLS IN TOWN, AWAY ALL BOATS and yes, even FEMALE ANIMAL, which is worth a look; what other film would make Jane Powell the daughter, or even stepdaughter of Hedy Lamarr, and then have them vie for George, almost to the death?) Anyway, it's time to give George a break, and when will TCM begin showing more of these terrific Universal 50s Bmovies with the likes of George, Rock Hudson, Tony Curtis, Jeff Chandler et al? They're mostly not on video of any kind, and it's time to see them again, or for the first time for many viewers. For more on George and his fellow B hunks, check out www.briansdriveintheater.com.

I had not seen this film until a few years ago. It's probably the worst film Jane Powell ever appeared in. It's kind of has a trashy Soap Opera feel to it.

With that said, Jane Powell looks her best in this film. She has a real sexy scene in a polka dot swimsuit that will make any man stand up and salute. She plays the sexy vixen very well and I'll admit I needed a free hand for that scene. WOW!

I would say buy the DVD and see for yourself.
