Ah, Alan J. Pakula.

No wonder it's good. Never saw this one before, either. Thank you, TCM.

I had the pleasure to meet Alan J. Pakula back in 1996. He was directing "The Devil's Own" which starred Harrison Ford and Brad Pitt. He along with his crew and cast filmed important scenes in Greenport, Long Island. They were here for about a week and frequented many of the local businesses while they were filming. I own a ice cream store and Alan's favorite flavor was Black Raspberry. I was very sad to hear that he died in a car accident a couple of years later. He was a great filmmaker but a nicer person.

I actually prefer Pakula's producing output to his mostly hit-and-miss directing output. All of the films he produced for Robert Mulligan are amazing.
