Donald Trump is Lonesome Rhodes

That is all.

I agree. With a few billion dollars.

Now, if what happened to Rhodes can just happen to Trump!

reply

It's probably too late - but some SuperPac could make a great point by buying a couple of hours on network television and showing this movie....

Maybe a few of his supporters would wake up!

I hope he has a Marcia Jeffries in his camp!

reply

Isn't Hilly Clinton the one who had the superpacs and carefully currated media image? We were not even allowed to see her in person. She broke the record for campaign contributions. Donald Trump broke a record also, for greatest number of small contributions.

I agree that Donald Trump is Lonesome Rhoodes, but for a very different reason that I am sure you disagree with. Marcia Jeffries was a warmonger. Remember that scene where she criticized the "bad guy" for being isolationist? Those were people who were against war. The Progressives back then were in favor of war. Today the liberal Democrats are the Progressives and also in favor of war and actually worse than that. Even more than being in favor of war, they are opposed to anyone who is against war. This is an evil movie. Do you know about Zionism?

Well, adler, you got your wish about seven months after your post. I'm surprised it took this long.

reply

Yes-Lonesome is Trump. One of the best movies ever about the power of image over truth on Media.

On TCM last night, the day after the VP debate. And they had a guy from National Review praising it! Good for them.

And I think with the Access Hollywood video that came out yesterday, Trump has had his Lonesome Rhodes moment. Notice how today everyone is calling in and saying they can't come to his banquet, so to speak.

reply

Except Trump still won the election! As Mel says in his speech to Lonesome Rhodes at the end of the movie, the American public have short memories.

"A Face in the Crowd" will be shown on TCM
January 20, 2017. I'll be watching.

reply

Yep, Jonah Goldberg and Ben Mankewiecz (sp?) had a great, civilized discussion. Maybe they should run for office.

+ he's going after dead beat countries for their NATO dues.
+ he's shaming the thieves that are robbing us thru trade/tariffs. Those mofo's have universal health care over our dead bodies. We're paying for that & we got OBAMACARE.

He's a great manPERIOD

That is a HUGE insult to Lonesome Rhodes! Lonesome Rhodes had good looks, an outgoing personality, a beautiful singing and speaking voice, a colorful vocabulary, and could both think and converse in complete sentences! He may have been a drunken, untrustworthy, philandering, emotionally unstable, poorly educated loose cannon who simply invented his facts as they suited him at the moment--he was particularly Trump-like chasing the secretaries out of the room--and, yes, he probably would have insulted and alienated all allies and made the United States a laughingstock--but he would not have sold his country out to a foreign power. I don't think.
