I'm watching this movie on TCM ( Turner Classic Movies ) right now too . Excellent film and Sidney Poitier is just fabulous in this one too . Thanks mcguffin2001 for your subject post .

sharetcm has aired this as long i can remember... the woman playing the mother has the exact same role and portrayal as in the twilight zone episode "the incredible world of horace ford", which was fun to see after watching that episode until i know it by heart, i saw that episode on a sci fi channel and had to get the radio version and then discovered the great twilight zone radio dramas. if you tune into this on tcm, be sure not to read the description of the movie until afterwards, it gives away quite a bit, in fact almost to the very end.
