seriously...I love foreign films...I have great taste in movies but this is one of the worst so called great movies ever. The dialogue is laughable,the first 45 mins bored me to tears....what direction? the camera is basically still 90% of the time...the story is terrible....absolute agony watching this garbage...kurosawa is overrated...if you want to see a good japanses movie watch shindo films. Dont bother replying with the usual "you idiot etc" frankly I dont give a crap what you have to say.

I only hope this guy never watches any Ozu if he can't appreciate the virtues of the static camera. The only reason why you think the direction is inadequate is because you don't know what direction is, which is why you have done nothing to vindicate your bile. The movie got made, ergo there is direction you terminal prat. Kurosawa didn't just turn a camera to the world, in fact this is one of his most controlled constructions, so you couldn't be more impertinent. Until you start giving a crap about what other people say, you'll never manage to free yourself from the shackles of your own ignorance.
