Did not like the EYES

Did not like the disembodied ones; loved the few times they lit him in closeup to just show his eyes. That was good.

Also, would rather not see the eyes at the end.

Well, I think that was part of the generally overdone tone of the movie. It was not subtle about some things. The eyes I didn't like were the wild eyes that said, "Look at me. I am a villain. You can tell by looking at my eyes."

I have a penchant for surrealism. I liked the eyes, lit up in the real face and disembodied in the sky.

Yeah, I thought it was a bit overdone in that respect. Also I felt it kinda took away from the whole reform message, that in the end after he died it was only his eyes that kept them there, that they knew he was watching over them so they stayed. It should have been that they stayed because they were successfully rehabilitated to become productive members of society again. Which, obviously that was part of it, but it got lost a bit in the thing about him still watching over them even after death. It should have been that when he died, they realized they didn't need him to keep them under control anymore, precisely because he had succeeded.
