The fashions are fabulous!

I sometimes lose track of the conversations in the movie when I focus on all the stylish clothes the ladies wear - especially to the Christmas party!

reply

Ah, the late-'50s.

Non-sequiturs are delicious.

A lot of modern day bustiers and panelling in crisp button down shirts take from a good deal of these fashions. The garments and fabric draped so beautifully even in ready-to-wear back then. Heck, look at any major current fashion houses and note how the 30's and 50's are a huge influence on how garments are designed....especially for their ads in recent years. Many fashions of the previous decades are truly beautiful to behold. Unfortunately today, we buy fabrics of the cheapest quality and manufacturing from the poorest countries with the fastest turnaround. Then we overcharge the masses. I do happen to adore the hats men wore back in the day. Wish it would come back.

Some cause happiness wherever they go; others WHENEVER they go.

I wish those days would come back, at least the fashions anyway.

Me too! I loved all of Katherine Hepburn's outfits. The clothes were beautiful! I thought Edith Head was the designer but no.

Bunny's first outfit, the pencil skirt with the grey mandarin-collared jacket over it, was my favorite!

Came here to say this - yes the first outfit was perfection! I was so dazed by it I had trouble focusing on the scene at times.

reply

Yes. And Dina Merrill was stunning!

I want the doctor to take your picture so I can look at you from inside as well.

Her blue dress at the Christmas party was so gorgeous.

Now that I have a high-def TV I am enjoying the fashions even more. And the mid-Century Modern decor! e.g. Azae's office are impeccable.
