I don't recall ever seeing a Marine take his swagger stick to town.

Army DIs could swagger without one.
Army DIs couldn't swag WITH one, so they figured, why waste money issuing them...
...and recruit motivation...
This was the only unrealistic part of the movie. I thought it was strange. (Just saw it).
