As I grew my taste changed from Universal to Hammer...

When I was a child the Hammer Horror films bored me because the monsters seldom showed up to cause much mischief except in the climax, whereas, I delighted in the Universal versions that gave us monsters that dominated the story and terrorized the countryside.

But as I matured I began to appreciate the 'Thinking Man's' status of the Hammer versions.

How many of you out there felt the same way as I did?

I used to hate Hammer films for the same reason. They were too slow for me because I used to enjoy the "slice and dice, kill 'em all" type horror films. But as I got older, I started to enjoy horror films that focused more on atmosphere, suspense, and story (all of which the Hammer films are wonderful at portraying) and I began to love them. The Universal and Hammer horror films are both equally good.

I've been waiting for you, Ben.

The opposite for me. I liked hammer more when i was young, but i like Universal more now.
