The only scene I didn't care for

I thought the scene with the blind man was really poorly written. He's all upset and feeling attacked because the monster isn't saying anything. It was just a bad scene, trying to hit someone with s sick because they don't respond to you? The monster was obviously handicapped, and one would think the blind man would understand handicaps.

That was actually the best scene of the film for me. He was blind so he couldn't see the monster was handicapped. If he could see him, I think he would've understood. Also, the monster couldn't have spoken and explained he was mute. To him, it was just a tall man towering over him in an attempt to harass him. What surprised me was how the little boy escaped. I thought it would echo the scene with Maria in the Universal version and the grandson would be murdered. But the Trivia on here does say that Universal threatened to sue if Hammer copied from their version so maybe that's why.

Burn, witch! Burn, witch! Burn! Burn! Burn!

What makes you think the little boy escaped? The scene seems to imply an ominous end for the boy when he goes around the hedge corner and no sound is heard.

The Universal 'threat' was about the makeup.
