William Holden steals the film

While they were great performances all the way around I can't help but think that William Holden's performance stole the film. He was a reluctant hero but a hero nonetheless

Holden is brilliant in this film - great in most of his movies but really did steal the show in this one.

Holden was excellent, but I think Guinness was clearly the main event here - and Hayakawa, too.

He was good, but I think Sessue Hayakawa and of course Alec Guinness made this movie. Without their outstanding performances, this movie would just be mediocre at best.
