They're Human brains?

Good movie except for that rather absurd point. I know... can come up with explanations for it too but hey, it's basically silly. Any explanation has to be rather involved. Too much so.

HumanOID brains. Human brains don't have glowing eyes embedded in them.

They weren't actually brains at all. They were a completely different species that happened to evolve on parallel path to physically resemble human brains.
