Corrected goofs


I noticed a few incorrect 'goofs' listed. I submitted the correction form but thought I would post here for discussion.


"Continuity: The B52 used for taxiing on the runway scenes has a red nose, with worn out paint. The B-52 used for the flight scenes clearly has a black nose panel."


The red is a dark shade, and in different lighting it can look black. The easy way to tell that it is the same airplane and that there is no change is by looking at the aircraft number below the color. 373 in big black letters. The number is also on the tail but in much smaller font and harder to read.




"Continuity: The refueling aircraft seen taking off to refuel the B-47 with stuck landing gear is a propeller aircraft, but when seen in flight it is a jet aircraft."


First off, the aircraft with the stuck gear is a B52, not a 47... The refueling aircraft is a KC97 it is a propeller type, and you can easily see this at all angles. There was no jet tanker even available for filming this movie, as the first all jet tanker was a KC135 that went into service in June '57.




"Factual errors: After refueling from the KC-97 on the way to Africa, before the thunderstorm, the B52 can be clearly seen with its wheels down and flaps deployed. This would not be done after refueling."


I agree the SHORT cut scene with flaps and gear down was out of place, but to say it "would not be done" is wrong. This was often necessary due to the slow speed of the propeller driven KC97.

Good eyes, deanstud. I will also add for the scene with General Tyler. We enter the room with the line chief and as he is walking up the aisle we can spot General Tyler on the telephone before he is introduced to the crews. Therefore, there is no error in not calling the room to attention. We don't know what happened before the master sergeant entered.

The best diplomat I know is a fully charged phaser bank.
