Solid, enjoyable flick

Just saw it on TCM- very entertaining movie and story, with a great cast- EZJ, Karl Malden, Marsha Hunt and Natalie Wood. The conflict between Malden and Zimbalist was well acted, and always a pleasure to see Marsha Hunt in one of her too few roles. I've had the pleasure of meeting her and she is truly a wonderful lady and one of the handful of remaining links to the Golden Age of Hollywood. Reminded me of what a solid performer Mssrs. Zimbalist and Malden are and how enjoyable it is to watch their acting.

flickersfan; I concur with your opinion and rated film a solid IMDB******Six (6). Would have gone higher, but film was spoiled by lackluster musical score. STRATEGIC AIR COMMAND with James Stewart had that advantage and picked up two (2) more Stars** because of it.

I understand your rationale, but you're a tough critic! Granted, the score wasn't by Miklos Rozsa, Max Steiner, or one of the other 50's luminaries, but I gave it an 8, probably because I think the chemistry of the cast was great, and Marsha Hunt herself was "da bomb" in her day! SAC with Jimmy Stewart-- a great flick and a great, triumphal score-- Victor Young died the next year but he was a prolific composer, more than 300 score credits, largely uncredited.

flickersfan; I recently heard Ms. Hunt on Nostolgic Radio in our area (Chicago) just last year. Her voice, despite her age sounded youthful and vibrant.

'I'm not so tough'.

She's an amazing lady, xerses. Very charming and dignified, without being pretentious. I'm privileged living here in LA, to have had the opportunity to meet her in person a few times and exchange pleasantries. And you're not "tough" as far as being a critic, but you have good taste in classic movies. You should come out to LA and visit sometime, maybe go to the TCM fesitval.

flickersfan; Thanks for the info and I am hoping to do one day what you suggest and attend the TCM Festival and visit L.A. Also sample some of the outstanding cuisine I have seen on the Food Network.

As a movie fan, one day you have to make the journey out here to Movie Mecca. Cheers!

A seriously B picture blending USAF promotions with an almost hilariously dated light family drama plot. They rarely make 'em like this any more.🐭
