this was a good little movie but im honestly surprised noone is on here. i was surprised at the nude breasts scene! and the language in the subtitles like sh** and piss and b itch. these foreign movies really pushed the envelope! bardot was super hot in this, but it was pretty hilarious with the voice overs.

because in North America "we" don't watch subtitled movies. So glad that TCM #1 is adding more foreign fare to their line-up and #2 in the original language with subtitles.
Having lived in Europe, I watched this out of nostalgia for the film icons of my youth, but what "emperors with no clothes" they all turned out to be. Roger Vadim certainly daring for that time, is but a hack who made hackneyed overheated melodramas and the "great" actors of our youth are dreadful. In H'wood this would have been a Lana Turner melodrama! BB over the top and SB "under" the top. Alida Valli is maybe the only decent actress in this. Like Irene Pappas, she could always express more with one look than whole reams of dialog. Still BB and SB for all their lack of acting ability are smolderingly sexy. There's a lot to say for sheer chemistry if there's no true acting ability.
Still I loved it for all it's camp soap opera sensibility and the fabulous "National Geographic" cinematography of that part of Spain.
