yep, its on TCM again right now, sub-titles are too far down to read--amazing incompetence

It's amazing, once I could understand.

But it is on right now August 23, 2016 and you can only see part of the subtitles, sometimes none at all.

Someone needs to be fired.

I just watched this on TCM On Demand and the subtitles are perfect (but the quality of the streamed picture is awful.)

Are you not able to adjust the screen on your TV? The movie is in wide screen with the titles below. That's kind of different but adjusting the display, if you have that option, should fix it. Also, if you watch it on TCM.com/watch, make sure NOT to leave your mouse on the screen. If you can see the progress bar you won't see the subtitles. If that happens just move the mouse.

Tried this, still falls off the screen. Can see just the very tops of the words.

Oh bummer! I was sure that would work. I'm sorry it didn't. I guess you'll have to learn to speak French, or at least understand it so you can watch it without the subtitles next time.

Someone at TCM needs to pay attention to what they put out. I'll happily walk through France shouting in English at the top of my lungs while wearing the most American t-shirt I can find, those frogs need to loosen up.

I'd advise against being so conspicuous while traveling abroad. It's not safe identifying yourself as an American these days. You may attract the wrong kind of attention.

To which frogs are you referring?

Yes, it happened to me too. I just tried my best as I speak both French and Spanish, but both are still more or less, foreign languages, LOL

They blew it again just recently (August of 2016). The early part of the film before the credits are cut down to a smaller ratio (sorry I don't know the exacts on stuff like that). The early subtitles do fit but after the credits run, the film is blown up to widescreen and the subs fall off at the bottom of the screen. If a sub needs 2 lines to print, one can read the first half but not the second. I could sort of make it out but it was hard. Th film is simple enough that I figured out the plot. But TCM should realize their mistake and correct it.
