Odd, even for 1957

Pat Boone playing a relentlessly smarmy, sarcastic, Jurassic-age Ferris Beuhller...Dick Sergeant overplaying a hyper obnoxious loon, who's oblivious to his failures as a potential Romeo.....the weirdly toxic relationship between Boone and his older brother (James Drury) they don't actually speak directly to one another until late in the film.....the crimina, wasted mis-use of sweet, gorgeous Terry Moore, who virtually disappears from the movie after its first act....somewhere buried deep in this mess were the makings of a cute romantic comedy....a dream girl created by the raging hormones of teen boys becomes a real girl, but evidently that concept got tossed out in favor of an excruciating display of Pat Boone posturing as a cool cat and Sergeant mugging as his hopeless best friend. Not very funny, not very dramatic...just strange.
