MST3K Version

I have this one on VHS (ugh) and its one of my favs. Any MST3K fans out there definently should check this one out, especially for Crow's moving feature on the life of Peter Graves; easily one of the funniest skits during a break.

Yes, the MST3K version is the only thing that makes this movie bearable.

I hate MST3K. Who wants to watch a movie when someone else is f------ with it?

Nor do I like DJs who f--- with music.

reply

Judging by the immense popularity of MST3K, evidentially a lot of people do!

Personally, I think the creators of MST3K (for the most part) had a lot of love and respect for these old movies. There's an old saw about satire being an act of love, and I believe it. Another thing is it's quite possible to watch and enjoy the movie because the guys do very little talking while dialogue is going on. But to each his own.

In the liner notes for one of his albums, Stan Freberg rejected this observation, and said that his satire was motivated by outrage. Voltaire would no doubt have agreed.

PS: If you don't know who Stan Freberg was... for shame!

Uh, f---ing with it is the POINT. It's like having a bunch of friends over to watch some really bad movies so you can poke fun at them and make witty comments. The MST3K crew just did it better, usually.
