Memorable film

I vividly recall this film, where I saw it and with whom I saw it. To recall a film experience so well for so long it has to have a special about it. This film it was so bad, one felt offended after sitting through it. My friend and I were avid movie fans and liked to discuss films after we had seen them. For this one we just looked at each other and simultaneously rolled our eyes. It was so bad we could not even discuss how bad it was.

This film surprised me. I really didn't know anything about it and was initially surprised to see a very mature Clark Gable starring in what seemed to be another version of Gone With the Wind, of which I have to admit, I'm not a great fan. I quite liked it. Enjoyed Yvonne De Carlo's performance who really carries the film, though it was laughable expecting us to believe she's a black woman. Sidney Poitier as usual was impressive and there is little doubt that despite its faults, the film has its heart in the right place. I actually found more interest with this film, than Gone With the Wind and the bonus of course, is that it's half the length. 🐭
