is there a deep meaning to this film?

Is Manning a physical representation of the a growing statistic? Perhaps he symbolizes the growing number of soldiers who came home with post traumatic stress disorder (or 'shell shock' as the called it back in the 50's).

Obviously Manning was a good soldier, but he failed to save 2 lives... one was his buddy in the trenches, and the other was the mystery pilot in the small plane which landed at ground zero.

I cant help but feel that there is an undercurrent to this film... much like Frankenstein was the story of God creating man... or Dracula was about fear and hatred towards other cultures.

The Incredible Shrinking Man had was about a man confronting his erectile dysfunctional disorder... and the Attack of the 50 Foot Woman was about a woman's rage upon discovering the infidelity of her husband.

any one?

Smoke me a kipper. I'll be back for breakfast

I think it was only a fun little movie that played on people's fears of the atomic age. Nothing more, nothing less.
