A Classic tear Jerker...beautiful

I had heard about the film"All Mine To Give" since I was a child...but i had never seen...(Im now 61 yrs old) I remember one of my older sisters girlfreinds talkning abouut All Mine To Give way back in 1957 I remember her saying how she was moved by this film..For some reason never saw it, and only saw listed once on TCM..Yesterday morning 12/23 I was looking at Sunday papers TV section looking to see what films will be shown in my area (NJ) this week There i see listed "ALL Mine To Give" 12 noon..Since I was headed out for last minute Christmas shopping, I set my VCR (No TIVO no cd old fashioned VHS tape) . When I got home had a couple of hours to spare..Sat down & watched the film..I was really moved by the story... The original title was"The Day They Gave Babies Away" & that says it all..Very sad..emotional a real tear jerker,The cast is wonderful and that beautiful photography in technicolor !!Im surprised this film isnt viewed more often. It can catch on as Wonderful Life and Wizard Of Oz have both film were bigger success on TV than in their original theatrical releases. The cast is excellent..The top child stars of the mid to late 50s are in it..Rex Thompson (who moves you to tears) a wonderful child actor & Patty McCormack (remember the Bad Seed ?totally different role for her)..you also get a breif glimpse of Jon Provost (Timmie of the later Lassie years) The adults are wonderfully cast as well: The Parents ;Cameron Mitchell (underrated scren actor) and Glynis Johns who always fascinates me ( I had seen Johns years after this film was made in 1980s on Broadway in her starring role in Stephen Sondheims "A Little Nght Music" where she actually introduced the classic beautful song; Send In The Clowns" )They were wonderful .only problem was the Scotish brough a bit heard to understand at times. Other cast memnbers include Ernest Truex, Reta Shaw (in a very nasty role) and Hope (Caged) Emerson as the mid wife and Alan Hale Jr (gilligans Island in an early film role..does he resemble his father?) all wonderful and beautifully cast.. The story tugs at your heart and doesnt stop until the films final scene ,and the photography of the woods of Wisconsin and the snow scenes are just beutiful !I think this was one of RKO's final films and its a good one If you need a good cathartic cry watch" All Mine To Give" a film that should gain a wider audience
I hope TCM shows this more frequently so it can gain a wider audience...& thanks again to TCM a great TV station

I am a lover of film would like to share my views with others!

It's incredibly manipulative and it lays on the pathos so heavily that it almost seems like a send-up. If you can accept having your head drummed for the duratyion, you can enjoy it for what it is. The performances are very good -- in context.
