Dolores

Was she nominated for an Oscar that year?

I'm more of a cat person myself but that was one soulful looking mutt.

Any theologians out there? Graham Greene was noted for introducing some element of morality, so, after I watched the movie, I tried to figure out what it was. Ready for this? Dolores is a Christ figure. She unquestioningly loves the hard hearted bad guy who rejects her. She never gives up and finally, he accepts her love and dies redeemed. It's really a happy ending by Greene's lights.

Via Dolorosa - dog - god - you may have something there.

It is obvious that there is a redemption theme in the 3rd Act, but I did not see the Dolores as Messiah part. Thanks, that is an interesting literary criticism.
