Why the tow bar on the Lincoln?

Anyone know?

I'm not sure what you mean. The car has a cracked engine-block and won't run, so it is being towed.

I noticed the tow bar too. When making movies it's common practice to tow the actor's car while filming "on the road" scenes so the actors can concentrate on acting and not driving. They just didn't remove the tow bar between shots.

To the other poster....the OP was talking about the new Lincoln used throughout the movie, not the old Chevy that was being towed to the gas station in the very beginning of the film.

in other words, a goof. I'll have to look for it next time.
While I thought the movie was handled in a pedestrian manner and wasted decent actors, still like to see it released on home video (which is why I was checking out the Discussion section).
