Is it just me? I've been watching early Maverick episodes - downloads from Netflix. A young James Garner keeps reminding me of David Boreanaz. I know it's a leap, but am I wrong?

I'd have to disagree, albeit more politely than the previous poster. I see almost nothing in Mr. Boreanaz to suggest James Garner in his younger days.
shareabsolutely not! I was watching an episode just last night with my Grandparents and the exact same thought struck me. But maybe that is because I've recently been watching alot of Angel episodes, and have David on the mind.

shareTwo and a half years later I offer a hearty 'agree'. They could play father and son. They both good at playing the big, friendly, handsome star. Garner's career is a little more interesting because he made a habit of playing against the expectations of a big, burly, square jawed hero type - in Maverick, Americanization of Emily, to an extent in Rockford, he was kind of a coward. Or at least he would exhaust almost all possibilities before resorting to violence.
I think the big similarity (for me, anyway) is their extreme likeability.
I think their faces are similarly shaped, and they have sort of the same hairline and coloring. That said, the original poster has it backwards: David Boreanaz looks like a young James Garner. (Or not.)
