"M-Squad" is rumored to being worked on for a DVD release by the Timeless Media Group. I have no details on release dates or whether or not the release will be a season set or simply a compilation of random episodes, but someone who has a contact at the company has indicated that this will happen, perhaps in 2008. Timeless has released a number of older series that have been licensed to them by NBC Universal like "Checkmate" and "Arrest and Trial," so "M-Squad" certainly would be a possibility.

M-Squad is being released on September 23, 2008 in a massive 14-DVD, 100-episode collection from the Timeless Media Group. These episodes are fully licensed by NBC Universal. The set will also include the soundtrack CD to the series. More information here:

YIPPEE!! It's one of my alltime favorite shows from when I was a kid.

Timeless Media has found the missing 17 episodes and will now release the entire series as well as the soundtrack CD.

It's so great to finally be able to see "M-SQUAD" ! And too bad the material is in a such terrible shape... Some episodes are from horrible DVD-R source, some are soft and pale, some are just passable.

The packaging is excellent though, and it's better than nothing, but let's hope one day, it will be re-issued with pristine picture and sound.

Fry's Electronics finally got the complete boxed set. Sure the picture quality isn't the best but to get to see the show again after all these many years is really enjoyable. Lee Marvin at his best! --------- ----- Rusty

A great Christmas gift to receive! ----- The only problem I have, I've only watched four of the 15 DVD discs so far, since I got my collection. And if you don't watch them all before the return policy time allowed by the store you bought the DVDs from, and make sure all the discs are not defective, you won't be able to get a refund if any are bad. ----- I just hope Timeless Video did a good job on the rest of the collection and all of the discs are in good shape. ---------- ----- Rusty

Has anyone had a problem with duplicate discs?
I just finished watching disc 5, and put in disc 6 only to find its disc 5 over again, and the disc IS marked disc 6!

reply

I've still only watched four of the discs so far. But I just got out discs five and six and checked the first episode on each one to answer your question robertpforrest. ----- The first show on disc five is "The Fight" with Charles Bronson, himself! The first episode on six is Accusation. ----- But if I had duplicate discs as you have I'd be out of luck anyway to return the set to the store. I bought my M Squad collection January 7th at Fry's Electronics and they have a thirty day return policy. ----- I hope you still have time to return the set to the store, if not try e-mailing Timeless Video for help in getting a replacement disc. ----- I had something like this happen to me one year ago last January. Best Buy had all nine DVD seasons of Roseanne for sale at $14.99 for each season. So I said what the heck I'll buy all nine. I never watched the show when it first aired years ago. ----- I'm glad I bought all nine seasons, the show is very funny. Anyway, each season had four DVD discs and son-of-a-gun I discovered the mistake really fast, three seasons had discs 1, 2 and two discs 3 with no disc 4, and one season had disc four missing with just discs 1 2 and 3. I lucked out that I could return the seasons with missing discs back to Best Buy. --------- So because of that, when I bought my M Squad collection I opened the package up to make sure all 15 discs were in the box. ----- Let us know if you get your problem taken care of at the store where you bought the set or if Timeless Video will help you. ----- ----- Rusty

I bought my collection of M Squad from amazon, and ive emailed timeless video to let them know of the problem, will let you know when i get an answer, thanks!

Timeless Video is going to send me a replacement disc, they tell me that a few errors occurred at the plant where they were made.

It's great to hear that Timeless Video is going to take care of your problem with your "M Squad" DVD collection, robertpforrest. ----- I just checked out their website and I was amazed at how many of their DVDs sets I've already bought over the years, some Johnny Carson, Jack Benny, Lucy shows, Mickey Rooney, Red Skelton, Gangbusters, Racket Squad, The Third Man, and most of the "One Step Beyond" episodes, I hope Timeless Video will release every "One Step Beyond" episode on video. That would be one hell of a DVD collection to own. ----- And one of Timeless Video's greatest treats ever released on DVD "The Buccaneers" The complete series of 39 episodes on DVD. The show starred one hell of a great actor Robert Shaw. And in my opinion at $9.99 for the three DVD set Timeless Video gave the series away. ------ I hope to see Timeless Video release more rarely seen TV shows, and I'm happy to see they help their customers. like you, who had a problem with your DVD purchase. ----- Now back to the "M Squad" DVD set. I really don't like the way the 15 DVDs are packaged in the box, two discs on each spindle. But it's no problem, as I watch each DVD disc of "M Squad" I just put the disc in a slimline jewel case. It makes it so much easier than having to mess with box the DVD set originally came in. ----- And have you listened to the bonus CD in the "M Squad" set that includes original Grammy nominated 12 song soundtrack, yet. ----- ----- Rusty

I didn't even notice the DVD set had a CD of the music from the show until I read your recent message early Wednesday morning, robertpforrest. ----- So Wednesday night I did my weekly DVD shopping in a few local stores and played the CD while I drove around from store to store. ----- I said to myself I feel like Lt. Frank Drebin from "Police Squad", the classic TV comedy series from 1982. Which I was happy to see released on DVD back in December 2006. Up until that DVD release, all I had was the show dubbed onto VHS from old Betamax tapes. ----- Anyway "M Squad" is the original show that "Police Squad" was made into a great comedy parody of, from the theme song, opening credit and main character. I just checked the IMDb trivia section fron "Police Squad". Check it out ----- "Police Squad!" (1982) - Trivia
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0083466/trivia ----- Knowing that "Police Squad" is a take-off of "M Squad" makes watching both shows even more enjoyable. ----- ----- Rusty

I do have 4 of the 6 episodes of "Police Squad" that i taped off of a PBS station in Buffalo NY over 20 years ago, i figured then it was based on "M Squad" but i hadnt seen "M Squad" since i first saw it on re runs as a kid in the 1960s, so naturally id forgotten the premise of "M Squad" until i watched an episode of it on you tube, at that point i looked it up on here and saw it was available on DVD and sent away for it.........in the case of "Police Squad" its too bad they didnt make more episodes of it...... I just watched the fifth disc of "M Squad" and "The Fight" is my favorite episode so far (disc 5) It's the one with Eddie a boxer played by Charles Bronson being threatened with death during the whole episode, but he won't quit trying for the title fight. ------ One of the reasons "Police Squad" didn't last any longer was mentioned by Leslie Nielson in his interview on the extras of the "Police Squad" DVD. He said something to the effect that the humor was so fast and furious during the show that a person would really have to watch the show very closely and pay attention, and that the show just wasn't going to make it on TV. (What I said might not make sense robertpforrest), but when you get your DVD of "Police Squad" you can listen to the interview and see what you think about it. ----- ----- Rusty

Rusty, when you watch disc 6, (i got it the other day in the mail from Timeless) the second episode is called "More Deadly", you'll find its the exact same plot as one of the six "Police Squad" episodes, enjoy!

reply

I really like to hear that TimelessVideo came through for you and sent you a new disc six. They back their product. that's great! ------ Also the episode "More Deadly" has a new opening credits scene. ----- I'll be watching disc seven soon. It will be great to see what other television stars did "M Squad" as we watch each disc of the collection. ----- ----- Rusty
