Antenna TV

I love this channel! I don't know why I just noticed it,but it has all the classic shows. Father Knows Best,Bachelor Father,Three's Company,Good Times,Sanford And Son,etc. This reminds me of CBN back in the day when I was a kid. Wish they'd add I Married Joan as much as I loved Lucy,Joan held her own,lol

'I Married Joan' was on for a while a few years ago -- as was 'My Little Margie' -- two old favorites of mine, as well.

I saw this show this morning.
this is the first time I have ever even heard of the show and i thought it was pretty funny.

in this particular episode everyone - his niece, butler, secretary, client was asking him to make al the choices for them.
in it he ends up getting blame for the bad things that result from those choices which end up being ok for all of them.

bummer! now all of our garbage is gonna go to waste - The Goode Family

Antenna TV is a wonderful channel; they show many of the programs that TV-Land used to air.

In addition, to "Bachelor Father," I like watching "Leave It To Beaver," and "McHale's Navy" on the channel.

It's great seeing the late Cheryl Holdridge (Wally Cleaver's sometime girlfriend, Julie Foster, of LITB fame) playing another role on "Bachelor Father."

Except for the fact that they're destroying the episodes by editing scenes out to make room for more commercial time... since in those days, each 30 minute episode had more viewable minutes. Now, we're down to 22 min of action for every half hour show -- so they've compensated by chopping up all our vintage programs.

rats.

Are you pretty sure Antenna TV is on that crap too? That sucks if they are. I figured out after watching a few of my favorite Gunsmokes on MeTV that TVLand had been hacking bits and pieces out, but TVLand is one big commercial now anyway. I wouldn't put anything past them.

Take Care

totally sure. and how pathetic am I that i know this -- is because my favorite episode of Make Room for Daddy is actually the spinoff to The Andy Griffith Show. There's a scene in the FULL SHOW where Opie is introduced… and when they show it on Antenna, they leave him out, OR they leave out the scene where Francis Bavier (who is NOT Aunt Be a in this episode, but plays a widow) goes to Sheriff Andy to complain about a bill she's getting from a suit she rented for her husband's funeral.

I need a life.

But, yes, I'm sure.

- Thanks for the Make Room for Daddy tip. I wasn't aware Andy Taylor started there, and tracked it down out of curiosity. I liked it. Parts of it remind me of the AGS where Andy locks up Bobby Fleet and his band.

Must have got a full one, as it had the Bavier stuff and Opie in it. It was surprising how similar Andy is on there to the later Andy.

BTW- One of Andy's "fun girls" was on the Bachelor Father I just watched.

-Thanks!

reply

Yes yes! I saw that too -- I just love both shows… such pure fun.

Re: Antenna TV

Thank Goodness for this cable station we just received in my building's new contract with Atlantic Broadband, I love how they play all the old shows! I had never seen or heard of this television show Bachelor Father, until right now 4:00AM -5:00AM (they play two episodes) but with being bed bound on oxygen full time, etc... I am up at all hours. I LOVE this station because they play Dennis the Menace, Partridge Family, Flipper, Bewiched, I Dream of Jeannie, etc... in afternoon, and many other great shows!

Also, like METV because they have great shows in the mornings like Leave it to Beaver, Family Affair, etc.. don't really care for the westerns they play but like everything else!

I wish they would have other stations that play old shows like these two stations, but I am grateful for these!

It's nice to see others like watching older shows because a friend of many years makes fun of me for liking old television shows, the funny thing is about my friend is he knows EVERY single word to the Beverly Hillbillies LMAO He is a riot!

Sorry so long, wishing everyone a good weekend!

ATV needs to get this crap on during the day or primetime. I had never heard of it until catching bits and pieces of it while trying to go to sleep. It is clearly one of the most unique (and funniest) sitcoms of that era, and we all know they had some great ones back then. Shame to waste it on us 3am weirdos. :(

reply

Looks like we got it!

It's on today in the afternoon. When I cut my TV on I thought my DVR cable box had gone into play mode or something.

Good job Antenna TV!

reply

Damn. I think they may have killed it. I don't see any forthcoming episodes in Comcast's search function.

At least I've still got a good chunk of them on my box that I haven't watched yet.

reply

This is a great network, but I really wish they'd cut down on the post-1970 crap and show some classic dramas of the '50's-'60's: PERRY MASON, DRAGNET, THE NAKED CITY, etc.
Also, those classic Westerns: MAVERICK, BRONCO, CHEYENNE, SUGARFOOT, LARAMIE, and especially RAWHIDE.
As a kid, I never appreciated these shows as I do now.
