Do You think Peter, and Especially Kelly, 'Cramped' Bentley's Style?

On a recent Antenna TV commercial, attorney Bentley Gregg is described as being a "lecherous lawyer." And, it always seemed as if the late, great John Forsythe's character was always eyeing (and possibly "mentally undressing") all of the truly beautiful women he met and also saw out on the street on "Bachelor Father."

However, I got to wondering if whenever Bentley had an extremely attractive woman over for a romantic dinner at his home, and Bentley then put on Frank Sinatra on the stereo, singing "Oh, What A Lovely Way To Spend An Evening," do you think that Bentley was then able to "consummate" the evening, so to speak? Or, was Bentley constantly being "interrupted" by either his butler, Peter, or Bentley's irrepressible niece, Kelly?

Heck, maybe Bentley just took his dinner date to a local motel/hotel in the area to "complete" the evening?

I started watching this show a year ago and fell in love with it. From most of the episodes I've seen Bentley made out alright with his dates. Peter always knew what to do or when to leave when Bentley had a date over for dinner. Kelly was always gone when he had dinner dates at his home.

Most the women he dated had places of their own. Quite a few episodes ended where he was leaving to go out for the night on a date. One of the reasons I like this show is because Bentley has no steady girlfriend, so I'm never bored with the same old tv show formula of a guy trying to make up with his girl. I like how the majority of his dates know who they're dating and take his serial dating with a grain of salt. It's a good show its become a favorite of mine, I wish it was released on DVD.

Is that the come back and kick me whistle?

Yeah, Peter has been given cue phrases by Bentley in some episodes where he wants him to take a hike, and as mentioned above, he often dumps Kelly on Ginger's parents for the evening.

It must be nice to look like John Forsythe and get pretty much any woman you want. Adding to that, being a lawyer with a nice place, complete with butler and a fatherly element of caring for a relative. He must be a player to deny all those women marriage for 5 years!

That's the part that gets me. With as much of a "catch" as they imply that Bentley is, he never seems to have any issues with jealousy, expectations, etc. on the part of his dates. They don't seem to care what he does the next night. It's almost like he's an escort or something.

I think she helped his love life, for example, in the babysitting episode, he discovers that single women are borrowing a friend's kid and hiring Kelly as a babysitter, so they can meet him.

Watching the pilot episode, he DOES come across as a bit of a lech at first, but finds that Kelly (and the dog, who at that time is a stray) burst in actually helps him win over an important movie client. His responsibility of watching out for his niece softens his more lecherous tendencies.

And of course Kelly was handy for the occasional threesome (or, with Peter, foursome).

I love this show! Thnik about it he's wealthy with a butler. TV shows today always show the stereotypical idiot beggin some snobby broad. It shows what real men do gamble, drink, play dominoes/cards and the guy was a sharp dressser.

Has anybody ever seen an episode where this guy hits on someone who ends up already having a boyfriend or husband? Seems like with all these exceptionally attractive women he manages to run into, they either play hard to get/are initially uninterested (which of course ultimately changes), or they aren't the slightest bit creeped out by his advances and immediately start flirting back. What type of wrold does this man live in?

Hollywood, baby, Hollywood!

He lives in the real world where men and women want to get together, not in his mom's basement.
