Remembering Johnny Contreras

Johnny Contreras was an American Bandstand legend. Johnny dance with perky blond Linda Blythe during the advent of the disco era. Johnny was such a good dancer, that in 1976 he was declared winners of a very competitive dance contest. Johnney also had a minor stint role in Soul Train circa 1975 and even danced in Las Vegas. Johnney Contreras was such a fan of Disco music, that in one bandstand episode devoted to Disco music, Dick Clark annointed him the "Disco Kid". Yet in another episode, he told Dick Clark he was still waiting for the car that he won on Bandstand. Many dance experts proclaimed Johnney the best male dancer of the 1970's.
