The WORLD will never be the same. So many of us grew up on this man, and the groups that he introduced to us. I shudder to think of how much money the record industry made off of the episodes of this show. The music played, and that we ran out and bought shaped our lives, our loves, our culture, and the culture of other nations. Did he create the music? No.
This music was deemed obscene, and practically banned by the government, parents, and various municipalities. Dick Clark was one of those who stood up for Rock and Roll's merits, and it's legitimacy, by playing it proudly.. first on Philadelphia broadcasts, and then national broadcasts. How much of our fashion sense did we get from the kids on the show? How many dances did we learn? How did that change us?
This man, his show.. and it's cultural impact can not be underestimated. Thanks for everything, Dick. I'll say it again. The world will NEVER be the same.
The more complex the mind.. the greater the need for the simplicity of play"

A sad day for "Boomers."

Thank you, Sir (and all of those fun "regulars"), for bringing our music into the home every day. Parents would shake their heads, a lament the passing of their music ... which I tend to do today, I must admit.

Only recently, my 90+ aged mother admitted that she had several favorite songs that she came to hear on "Bandstand."
