Rock was gay. Does is affect your enjoyment ofthis movie?

Well?

reply

NO. NOT ONE IOTA.

Why? Does it bother you?

reply

Not even a little. I don't care that he was gay. I don't really think about it when I watch his movies.

reply

If you watch Pillow Talk you'll see he has more chemistry with Tony Randall than his female counterparts.

reply

Yes. It does.
I don't condemn gays, but Hudson's character's love of Bacall's caracter was completely unbeliebable- thus this part detracted from my enjoyment of the film.

It doesn't affect my enjoyment of the movie but it does affect my reading of the movie. I couldn't understand why his character wasn't chasing other women and seemed to be saving himself for Bacall.

reply

No. Actors act, gay or not. They don't have to really be what they play.

reply

No. Totally irrelevant.

The comments about Bacall by some posters are off-topic and have nothing to do with Rock's actual sexuality. I happen to agree that there's no real chemistry between them, but that's a common enough issue in many films. Here, it has nothing to do with Rock's being gay. I actually thought he had chemistry with Dorothy Malone, as he had with most of his other leading ladies over the years.

reply

Not a bit. Yeah he was gay in real life but the character he portrays wasn't. If we went by how actors personal lives are off screen, I'd never see a single movie James Franco is listed on since I think he's a narcissistic douche with a thing for underage girls.

reply

Why would you even ask this question? Gays play straight characters, straight actors play gays. It's not even a thing to consider.

I watched Nightmare on Elm Street the other day. I understand the actor who played Freddie wasn't actually a serial killer. And he wasn't even dead! Blimey! The things these actors can do!

reply

Nope. Just like you being gay doesn't spoil your comment for me.
