Great title, average movie

In what I thought would be a great noir man-hunt film turned out to be a melodrama about the newspaper business with a little soap-opera thrown in. I thought it would be another Naked City. Slightly disappointing. Best part was George Sanders playing with his peaches.

There is no "off" position on the genius switch.

I agree; though the best parts were the Rhonda Fleming scenes: a continuation of Scarlett Street in my opinion, great.

Yes I agree this movie while OK, was a disappointment based on the very good cast of actors and Fritz Lang as director. It seemed a missed opportunity with a few nice spots (Fleming, Lupino, and Sanders come to mind).

I'm watching it now and I'm having a lot of trouble getting through it. Not a very interesting movie. I can think of much better noirs out there.

It's a great title as the OP says but not an original one. It had been used twice before as a film title. I was waiting for a murder. I may have to watch this one again when I'm in a more receptive mood.
