What WAS he in prison for? What was his story? I was confused about what he was doing in a Nazi prison for Frenchmen who opposed the occupation, if he was an opportunist who briefly sided wtih the Germans.

Wasn't he part of the French Resistance and was imprisoned for a bombing or attempted bombing of an occupied building?

To my understanding, he ran away from the French who were working for the Nazis.

Some type of drunken bar brawl, where a German Soldier was killed during the melee.

He was a 16 year old member of a collaborationist group and stupidly firing off guns for the hell of it, wounded a French policeman.
