Saw up to the part where the tutor starts to rant + drink...help?

So I take it she didn't end up w/the tutor, so does she end up marrying the Prince?

It has an open ending, but I think we are supposed to think she probably marries the prince.

Here's the ending: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ixDv_8SAq2M

Thank you! It's too bad, this movie started out looking really promising and then just went stale. Grace Kelly was so charming & beautiful though.

I'm surprised to hear you say that. I thought it was a bit plodding and slow up until the Queen arrived, though I certainly enjoyed it anyway.

But when the Queen -- the superb Agnes Moorhead -- arrived early and things got chaotic, the pace picked up and we had that spectacular interplay between the Prince, the Queen and Beatrix. All three gave performances that showed them at the absolute top of their comedic form.

And the ending .... One of Alec Guinness' best scenes ever, beautifully written, sensitively directed and brilliantly performed by The Master. And even the pull-back camera shot at the end, showing the lonely swan on the lake -- masterful touch. I can't say it was the ending most people would have written, or even the most desirable ending -- but it was the RIGHT one. And I suspect this marriage would work better than any alternative.

I agree with you. I was transfixed the whole time. I guess enjoyment depends on stage of life, interests, experience, etc. I'd never seen this when it came by the first time in 1956 and I doubt I would have enjoyed it as much then as I did this time. And though Louis Jourdan was a handsome hunk, I was surprisingly elated when she walked off with the Prince. SUPERIOR acting all the way around.

I think the ending was clear, though I suppose one could argue that the future might change .... certainly no indication of it in this film, though.
