An effective little movie, all but forgotten

I remember watching this movie on one of those Saturday afternoon movies that used to run on the channels that DIDN'T have sports, probably in the mid '60s. It has always stuck with me; it had a haunting atmosphere about it.

It's been shown rather infrequently on television, but sometime in the late 1990s I managed to spot it listed in the TV GUIDE running on our local CBS affiliate in Philly. Dutifully I set my VCR to record the movie and was happy to revisit the film after all of those years.

I've since edited out the commercials and transferred the whole thing to a DVD-R for at least some measure of preservation. The print they aired wasn't the greatest - it actually started out OK and got very dark toward the end. But at least I can view the movie when I want.

That's fabulous news. Thanks for the heads-up.

My DVD arrived Saturday afternoon and i watched it Sunday night. It blew me away! The fact that much of it was actually filmed outdoors was a plus and Joseph La Shelles photography knocked me out. Also, the themes were quite adult for the time.
May I bone your kipper, Mademoiselle?
