How did they create Rodan's cry?

Guys:

Rodan is one of my favorite Toho monsters; does anybody have any idea how his screech was created for the movie? I mean everyone knows "R" was a resin coated leather glove stroking a bass fiddle; 'Anger-us' comes from a Saxophone, but what about "R"?
