time for a remake!

Anybody else think that godzilla seems to be getting a lot of attention? i mean, cummon, there are plenty of Japanese monsters to remake movies of! Rodan is one of them! why cant we have a Rodan attack New York, or Toronto, or Chicago? and the human race could recruit godzilla somhow to fight Rodan. = clash of the titans!! = the coolest movie ever!

CUMMON writers... get a script goin!

I'd say it's high time to make a new Rodan movie. But not a Rodan vs. "insert name here" type movie. A remake of the original, with a similar script set in modern day Japan. After all, old Rodie is appearing in Godzilla: Final Wars, and Mothra got not one but three "Rebirth" movies in the past ten years or so. Rodan has a loyal fanbase of his own. He's probably the third most popular Toho monster behind Godzilla and Mothra (with Anguiras coming in close fourth.)So yes.. petition anyone? "we demand a new Rodan!" n_n

Would you stay with the two Rodans? Would they be CGI or more men in costumes? Some fans of Japanese giants feel that the rubber suits are half of the fun. Steve.

if theyre gonna remake it, follow the original closly. keep the giant insects, have 2 rodan monsters. id say that anguirus is slightly more popular than rodan at least in my book even tho he never had a "solo" movie like rodan and mothra had. thats ok tho i dont see how they could come up with a good story for him, i mean rodans story is nothing special as it is.

Their needs to be a Godzilla vs. Rodan

'You don't mind if I kill all of you?'
'What? Kill me if you can!'
'It'll hurt.'

reply

I wouldn't mind as long as it is made by the Japanese and in a similar style. God help us if Roland Emmerich tries. His version of Godzilla (which should never be recognized as a real Godzilla movie) was god-awfully horrible. He'd best keep his hands off of Rodan and let somebody who knows what Japanese monster movies are all about take a shot at it. The original Rodan was awesome, and I think a remake of the original could be really cool.

This will not be remade. I can tell you why. Japan doesn't really care for monster mvoies anymore. Godzilla Final Wars.... His final movie... did horrible in teh box office.

OH YES. THERE WILL BE BLOOD.

I'm sure every one has seen what the transformers movies effects look like now. I'm blown away. not by the subject matter because I don't know if I really like how the robots look, but I can tell you the effects look very real.

Now to my point. What if someone put that kind of power and budget behind a remake (or just a new) giant monster film. (not like king Kong I'm talking huge!)
I mean hell even the quick scene of Rodan in Final wars was well done (unlike most of that film).

I know the American Godzilla film was vomit on screen.
It's because every thing about godzilla was changed!

I'm saying for example take the original story from Rodan, The mines, the bugs everything but really make it shine. Have the bugs really frighting and evil as they were meant to be, They attack and eat people for crying out loud this stuff is gold!

Remember the scene of rodan casing the fighter jet? now picture that with what we could do today.

Also I had an Idea of having the two Rodans face of against some form of Megaguirus in an epic aerial battle above the erupting volcano! with ash, smoke, and fire as a backdrop!

it most likely would never happen, but it sounds like one hell of a film.

Rodan already attacked New York in Godzilla Final Wars, but it was a 2 minute scene. Toho is done making kaiju films for now and even the company that made the superior newish Gamera films isn't planning on making one anytime soon because of the poor box office of Gamera the Brave.

If you want to see a great scene with lots of giant flying lizards definitely check out Gamera 2 and Gamera: Revenge of Iris (the 90s versions) to see how to do the flying monster thing right.

I would love to see a new Rodan solo movie. It's about time he got to hog the spotlight again.

Question I have is, Suitmation, CGI, or Stop-motion.
Suitmation would please hardcore fans
CGI would please the masses and those snotty critics
Stop-motion would please,... me. Seriously, how cool would a stop-motion Rodan be?

This film doesn't need a remake; it's fine the way it is.

"We're all part Shatner/And part James Dean/Part Warren Oates/And Steven McQueen"

Toho had planned on a remake, but wanted to see how the 1998 American version of Godzilla panned out. Japanese audiences overwhelmingly hated Roland Emmerich's lumbering lizard, which prompted Toho to make Godzilla 2000.

One must also remember that Rodan was really a two-dimensional monster. In fact, most of Toho's monsters were limited. Rodan, Varan, Gorosaurus, Manda, they were all characters with little sequel potential, save for those "all monsters attack" kind of films. Only Mothra has shown any real potential as a series.

That said, I wouldn't mind Toho finally making that movie about the insects in the mine.
