The Military Inquiry

I have no idea what military historians thought, but I felt the fairly lengthy military inquiry segments were really quite interesting. Hearing the perspectives of fictional officers about Custer's and their own actions and reactions involved with the battle was rather different from your normal oater dialogue. I really don't know how closely the conversations followed historical facts, but it did catch my attention.

It was surprising to note the prominence brought to the role of presiding Colonel Kellog by Russell Hicks whose name was well down the cast list.

Amusing when he suspended Benson from the hearing for the day. Quite honestly I would have probably done the same thing too, butting in as he was doing, advocating for Custer, when he wasn't (Benson) at the battle.

Yea, as good a military courtroom film as Caine Mutiny (ok, slight exaggeration). A great cast too.

Good observations, spookyrat1, except that the officers were not all fictional. Only Scott's character Benson was. In fact Major Reno, played by Frank Willcox, and Captain Benteen (Michael Pate) were actual historical persons, whose involement in the Little Big Horn disastor was portrayed with fair accuacy.

Well that makes the scenes even more appealing.🐭
