Lee Marvin's best death scene

At the Walter Reade Theater in NY some years back I heard the last Mrs Marvin say he regarded this as his best death scene.

One commenter wrote that Boetticher told him how he created eroticism by separating Scott and Gail Russell, she sitting in the wagon and he lying beneath it. The entire scene preceding that, when all the characters are sitting in the wagon and Marvin is leeringly flirting with her, is a masterpiece of eroticism, of a threatening kind.

Boetticher was a great director. I consider this the greatest of the Scott-Boetticher Westerns with Comanche Station and Ride Lonesome just a neck behind. Each one of the greatest Westerns ever made.
