TCM is scheduled to show this movie...

...on Aug. 26, according to their website. I don't think the DVD has been announced yet, but I've read that these "lost" Batjac pictures would be made available for TV as well as eventual DVD releases. UPDATE: They've pulled it from the schedule!

This is unfortunate because the only copy I have has faded very badly, and the showdown between Randolph Scott and Lee Marvin and Don Barry is missing a number of frames. Is Batjac restoring the film?

It airs on TCM on December 21, as well as a Budd Boetticher documentary. I've never seen any of Boetticher's films yet, but this seems like a great film to start with (not to mention a documentary).

Wish I had heard about this before it happened, LOL, I was looking through a magazine on a flight to Mexico when I read about it and so I missed the documentary. Though I figured TCM wouldn't be able to show it unless WB had finally fixed up the film, and sure enough the DVD is now out and should be at my home within a week. I'm overjoyed to say the least. TCM will probably show the doc again. I think it's really great that people are going to have a chance to see these movies again, they are like the missing link between John Ford and Sergio Leone. Of course you could say that about Anthony Mann also, but I think Boetticher's westerns were better and also more influential on Peckinpah and Leone.

Did I not love him, Cooch? MY OWN FLESH I DIDN'T LOVE BETTER!!! But he had to say 'Nooooooooo'

The documentary is included on the DVD, along with a commentary by Western scholar Jim Kitzes.
