Blue Eyes

Ethan, Martin and Scar all have blue eyes. Does that fact have any significance other than to symbolize that no matter how adversarial we may be, we are all members of the same "family of man?" Is Ford using this symbol to show that we are all connected? Or is there something less esoteric that he wants to say?

Or maybe it's just a coincidence that the actors all had blue eyes.

I doubt that Ford's casting a blue-eyed actor as chief of a band of Comanches was mere happenstance. But maybe.

I think movie is showing that makeup is the universal. I mean look at Debbie. With all that lipstick, mascara, eyebrow liner, etc. Natalie Wood could be straight out of a Revlon commercial. I guess the Native Americans had all that Madison Avenue stuff too.
