A question about this film

And the question is -
is this the very first British scifi film to made in colour?
If it is then it should be in the film books for that fact alone.
I've been trying to think of any earlier UK scifi films which were in colour but I can think of any. Anybody know of any?

Yes, Satellite in the Sky was Britain's first color sci-fi film.

I never thought about the movie's uniqueness in that regard, but by 1956 there had been few UK science fiction films and none in color.

The only previous British sci-fi films up through 1956 were Spaceways, Stranger From Venus, Devil Girl From Mars, The Quatermass Xperiment, Fire Maidens From Outer Space, X the Unknown and The Gamma People, all in black & white. In fact, the next British sci-fi film in color was Gorgo in 1961, quickly followed by the abysmal Konga. (I don't count the color Hammer horror films of the late 50s as science fiction.)

Satellite was only a fair film, so shooting it in color was a good decision as it at least made it stand out more.
