Akemi's bell

I had to smile when Akemi's bell became a minor plot point in the third film, and that the guy says "She sounds like a kitten." When I was watching the first film, every time she was on screen I would wonder where in the hell our cat was, because I could hear his bell in the room but I couldn't see him. After a while I realized it was her. It's particularly amusing because in my years of experience buying bells for our various cats, I know damn well that they're like snowflakes- no two ever sound exactly alike. But Akemi's was a dead ringer for the bell one of our cats has been wearing for the last few years, close to an exact match.

I hope you enjoyed this gripping anecdote as much as I enjoyed writing it.

quite a character, Akemi... I don't remember if in the book she was the "girl with the bell" or it was just a gimmick for the movie makers to differentiate more clearly (also perhaps for the Western viewers) between the two girls.

it's sad though to be likened to a kitten - cute&playful, but easy to be disposed of... also maybe it's fine in an apartment, but in the wilderness that cat will never eat :D

crazy story, the bell :)
