......and Jane Russell...WOW! The chemistry between them was HOT! I love seeing them together on screen. The way he takes her into his arms is sooo sexy!

And I love how he kicks Michael Pate's arse for abusing Mamie!

He was a man's man.....and women every where fell in love with his character...who wouldn't?

I love how he calls her....Cinderella....so endearing.

I equally appreciate what he was like in his personal life; a man of strong Catholic faith, a good husband and father. He had integrity and character.

Just maybe he didn't become HUGE in HOLLYWEIRD.....because he chose not to sell his soul to U - NO - HOO!!

"Ooo....I'M GON' TELL MAMA!"

I was 5 years old in 1941 so I lack knowledge of what 'real life' was like in the 1940s for servicemen in the Pacific. However, I know that Japanese Americans on the West Coast were rounded up and put into camps with machine gun towers to keep them from escaping. In this movie there are Japanese girls in Kimonos leading servicemen to private rooms, playing the victrolas, bringing drinks...bowing in greeting and leaving. is that historically accurate in Honolulu 1942 and 1943? I can see it except for the kimonos and the bowing.

I miss Big Band music and talented singers. Leonard Cohen is my idol. Civility, harmony, unity!
